One of the Gold Coast’s favourite three-piece fuzzy bands Kobrakai have just released their third offering, the new album III. Listen to it HERE.
Starting out with the lush, intricate, dark and interesting melodies of Apropos, I am instantly reminded of the vocals and vocal harmonies of Chris Cornell.
Bohemian Groove follows and the huge, heavy and fuzzy opening is a delightful sonic kick in the guts. The musicianship displayed is incredible as is the passion and intensity.
Dope is more upbeat whilst maintaining ferocity – it sounds like a blend between punk rock and stoner rock.
Honey Tongue takes another journey into clever and interesting intervals, chords and structure.
Doom Mons – Part 1 takes the ear back to the fascinating acoustic melodies and heavenly sounds for a moment before Climbing takes a heavy, bluesy and intense journey that morphs into a fuzz lovers' delight.
A song that may sound familiar is the previously released single Big Evil. This song is huge and the riff is amazing – catchy as hell and incredibly interesting.
Crows lifts in intensity and has me instantly headbanging along. A marvellous display of technical ability whilst remaining musically tasteful.
Anchors – The Deep Blue – Part III kicks off with huge drums and an extremely catchy riff.
Doom Mons – Part 2 closes out this killer album with massive sounds and emotive melodies.
This album conveys so much emotion and passion and excellently captures the incredible musicianship of this very talented and interesting band. The sounds are huge and also clear, the sound is smooth without losing any intensity. Headbangers of all walks and fans of doom, stoner, alternative, 90s, metal and punk will appreciate this album.
