Release Review - 'Pretty Good EP' by Canny and Hall
February 13, 2019

Surely one of the weirdest, most endearing and entertaining bands from Brisvegas is comedy-laced, five-piece supergroup Canny and Hall. They have just released their five track EP 'Pretty Good EP'. Recorded at Tym Guitars and engineered, mixed and mastered by Donovan Miller. Roo had a listen and you can HERE.

The EP starts straight in with the driven sound of The Ballad of Canny and Hall. This completely self-referential tune is a great introduction to the delightful absurdity of this fun group.
A groovy bass line and upbeat sound introduces The Beach - a groovy and fun sing-a-long track that has all the catchiness of Rock Lobster.
I'm Still Young takes a different musical direction with a full and brooding sound, changing to a more furious and surprisingly upbeat feel in the chorus.
Head Movies is a heavier, punk-style track that is incredibly tight with the most innovative and imaginative lyrical subject matter I have ever heard in a song.
Closing the EP is The Lion Table - an acoustic intro kicks off a laid-back feel with yet another sing-a-long chorus complete with gang vocals.
This EP contains lyrical references to Brisbane and characters that may or may not exist. I don't like to use this descriptor often, but this is a group that is truly unique. Driven electric guitar, sonically lovely acoustic guitar, funky drums and bass and Danny's signature characterful vocals all help to tell hilarious and surprisingly relatable stories and relay marvelous observations.
Canny and Hall with be supporting Your Man Alex Smith on March 16th at The Milk Factory with Sam Joole.
